New store makes custom jeans

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

There's a new store at the Franklin Park Mall, and it's unlike any other boutique.

Many shoppers have trouble finding a pair of jeans that fit just right. Alicia Lawson was one such person, so she decided to change that.

Lawson just opened Shape Me Jeans, a store that makes custom-fitted jeans, with her daughter. Customers can choose from seven colors of denim and explain the kind of fit they're looking for. They'll then change into what's called a ‘pre-shape' to have measurements taken. Lawson says they can sew a pair of jeans in about an hour and 15 minutes.

She says it's something everyone can try.

"This is for anyone. This is for a nice 24 [inch] hip, this is for an 18 hip, this is for a 57 hip," Lawson said. "No matter what size you are, custom-made jeans can be for you."

Everything in the store is made in the United States.

"[We're] making sure we get everything we can from, you know, homegrown companies, so we really took our time and looked for companies," she said.

A custom pair of jeans will cost $99, and customers can walk in or make an appointment.
