The trial for the man accused of killing a 4-year-old boy will happen in Bay City. A judge has denied a request to move the trial for Anthony Bennett.

Bennett is facing murder charges, accused of killing Carnel Chamberlain at the home of Carnel's mother near Mt. Pleasant.

Chamberlain was found dead at his home on the Saginaw Chipewa Indian Reservation near Mount Pleasant on June 28, 2012. Jaimee Chamberlain, Carnel's mother, has said Bennett was watching Carnel while she was at work on June 21, the day Carnel disappeared.

Authorities discovered the remains after a weeklong search on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian reservation.

Bennett was charged with an earlier assault on the boy while authorities developed the murder case against him. By doing that, the authorities were able to keep Bennett in custody.

Also, while in the Bay County Jail, Bennett was accused of attacking a corrections officer. Guards said Bennett was arguing with another inmate and when he was being escorted back to his cell, he attacked the guard.

Bennett has a long criminal history, which dates back nearly a decade. He was on probation when Carnel went missing.

Bennett's mother, Michelle Gutierrez, previously said Bennett suffered from mood swings that were diagnosed at age 8 as symptoms of bipolarism and manic depression.

His trial date is set for January 14.
