BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -
State police will host a Missing in Michigan event this weekend for families and friends affected by the disappearance of a loved one.
It takes place Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Clinton County's Bath Township. It's free and open to the public.
Sunday marks the third annual Missing in Michigan event.
It's part of an effort statewide to solve cases of missing people. The Detroit Free Press reports that stepped-up efforts at the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, for example, have led to several people being identified in recent months through the use of DNA.
According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, there are 149 open cases of unidentified remains in Michigan. There also are numerous missing persons cases.
