HURON COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Huron County Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson says a man was injured in a Friday morning crash on M-142.

The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. west of Schock Road in Sand Beach Township. Investigators said Aaron M. Herrington's 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was eastbound when he swerved right to avoid impacting with another vehicle and hit a tree.

The 26-year-old had to be freed from his vehicle by emergency responders, which had basically been ripped in half. Hanson said firemen had to cut the roof off the car to free the driver. Herrington was then taken to the Harbor Beach Hospital where he was treated.

No further details were released on the extent of Herrington's injuries.

Hanson said no one else was hurt in connection to the crash.
