Students create drunk driving app

Posted: Updated:
ANN ARBOR, MI (WNEM) -

Three University of Michigan students have released a new app that helps to keep drunk drivers off the road.

The app, called "Stay in the Blue" was developed by students Steven Coffey, Roddy Hyduk and Jenn Angell.

The app measures how drunk someone is before hopping in their car.

The app asks for gender, weight, what types of liquor someone has been drinking and how many.

Then, it calculates the blood-alcohol level. If it stays in the blue, that means the person should be okay to drive. It it moves to maize, orange or red, you are not safe.

The app also has information on local taxi services.

Former Heisman Trophy winner at Michigan, Desmond Howard, has endorsed the app.
