Driver swerves to miss deer, overturns vehicle

Posted: Updated:

Michigan State Police troopers were called to investigate after a single vehicle crashed in Sanilac County on Tuesday evening.

The rollover crash happened on Cumber Road just past Freiberger Road in Austin Township around 8:25 p.m. Troopers said the driver swerved to miss a deer, ran off the roadway and overturned.

Authorities said a two-year-old girl in the backseat was injured and flown by Flight Care to Hurley Medical Center in Flint, where she is currently listed in good condition. The front seat passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Lansing, was taken to Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City where she was treated and released. The driver, and a three-year-old girl riding in the back seat, were not injured.

Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but it does remain under investigation.
