DARTON STATE (women) 7, MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE 3
The Darton State women hoped to continue their recent dominance over their opponents.
In the first five games of the season, the Lady Cavs have outscored their rivals, 25-1.
The Middle Georgia State Lady Knights were not intimidated though.
In the second half with Darton leading 4-2, MGSC's Curry Holloway hooked a corner kick into the net, giving the Lady Knights life.
DSC answered and did so quickly.
Lyana Perez crossed a pass into the box that Brianna Lemerise stuffed into the net to push the lead back to 2.
Perez would score another minutes later, off the assist by former Lee County Trojan Alexis Roland.
The Lady Cavs added a final notch late, winning 7-3.
Head coach Ken Veilands was happy with the offense, but says the three goals given up is disappointing.
"We've gone through a pretty clean slate as far as giving up goals, and then we give up three goals to this team," Veilands says. "Hats off to them, they worked hard. But we definitely have a lot of work to do in the back."
DARTON STATE (men) 1, MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE 0
The Darton State men battled Middle Georgia to a scoreless half, but it didn't come without opportunities.
Early in the first half, several nice passes led to the foot of Azimi Marwan, who scored from point blank range.
But the goal was negated on a late offsides call.
The Cavaliers would play good defense all game, and eventually break through in the final minutes for the 1-0 win.
Both the men's and women's teams travel to Columbus Sunday to take on Georgia Military College.
