Calling the evidence overwhelming, a judge has ordered a suburban Detroit man to trial in his wife's death after days of unflattering testimony about his lifestyle away from home.
Jane Bashara was severely attacked and strangled at her Grosse Pointe Park home last year. Her body was found Jan 24, 2012, in her Mercedes-Benz in a Detroit alley, a few miles from the couple's home
Robert Bashara is accused of arranging the killing so he could live a new life with another woman. He was known as "Master Bob," and had a sex dungeon in the basement of a bar.
Judge Kenneth King called the case "bizarre" after hearing days of testimony. He found probable cause Friday to send Bashara to trial on a first-degree murder charge. A handyman, Joe Gentz, is in prison after saying he was forced by Bashara to kill Jane Bashara.
Bashara already is serving up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to trying to hire someone to kill Gentz in jail. He's denied involvement in his wife's death.
