Product offers chemical-free disinfection solution as mobile devices are increasingly adopted in healthcare industry
CLAREMONT, N.H., Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- New Hampshire-based Red River, a leading information technology (IT) services provider, announced a partnership today between Red River Healthcare and ReadyDock, a healthcare IT firm that offers workflow management solutions of tablet computers in hospitals and other applications that require disinfecting, charging, storage and security of tablet PCs.
Red River Healthcare will maximize ReadyDock's disinfecting and charging capabilities for iPads in healthcare settings. The disinfecting process takes less than 60 seconds and addresses the recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) to frequently disinfect electronic devices used by patients and physicians. According to the CDCP, every year approximately 1.7 million hospital patients contract an infection unrelated to their reason for hospitalization. Of those patients, approximately 100,000 die from these infections, more than breast cancer and AIDS deaths combined.
"ReadyDock's services are a crucial component to maintaining safe healthcare environments," said Charlie Franco, director of Red River Healthcare. "As the healthcare infrastructure becomes more mobile and patients and clinical staff increasingly utilize electronic, handheld devices, keeping everything clean and bacteria-free is as important as ever. We're excited to revolutionize the mobile healthcare space by introducing cutting-edge technology together with ReadyDock."
ReadyDock:UV is currently available for Motion Computing Tablets and iPads.
ReadyDock:UV for iPad is the first and only chemical-free disinfection multi-bay docking station on the market. Tablet PCs are high-touch surfaces that require disinfection in clinical and germ-sensitive settings.
"ReadyDock is looking forward to branching into the federal healthcare community," said ReadyDock president David Engelhardt. "As we begin to change the way healthcare IT operates, having a reliable and strategic partner like Red River at our side will optimize our product and service offerings, allowing customers to safely implement mobile devices. The mobilization of healthcare is rapidly changing the healthcare interface including direct patient engagement, and we're doing our part to keep it safe for everyone."
