MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -
A new office complex is currently under construction in Midland, part of the city's overall plan to develop the downtown area and draw more business to the region.
Currently two major construction projects are currently underway. A two-story office building on Buttles Street and the 212 square foot office and retail complex, the east end being built near the Dow Diamond.
Selinda Tisdale is the Director of Community Affairs for the city of Midland and she says the new construction is just the tip of the development iceburg so to speak.
"Next year we will have a major contstruction project coming on Main Street and not only that, we have two new businesses opened just this past week, and another restaurant scheduled to open in the next two weeks," says Tisdale.
These new developments add to the tax rolls and it keeps the city thriving as well as bring new people in.
Scott Walker is the CEO of Midland Tomorrow. Walker points out that the construction today is an indication of a strong tomorrow.
Both construction projects should be completed by this time next year.
