Gov. Rick Snyder's re-election campaign is airing his first TV ad more than 13 months before the election, saying Michigan's economy is the best it has been in 10 years.
The ad, which will start running Wednesday for two weeks on cable and network stations, was provided to The Associated Press on Tuesday by his campaign. It declares that "Michigan is back" under the Republican governor's leadership.
Snyder used a Republican conference on Mackinac Island over the weekend to all but declare his re-election bid.
The ad says Michigan is back on solid foundation and says Snyder will next focus on vocational training, lowering the cost of college and expanding a program where Michigan companies hire other in-state companies for work.
Democrats have coalesced behind Mark Schauer as their candidate.
