A man who police say tried to steal a bathtub from a vacant home in Saginaw has been sentenced to time served.
Cedric T. Jones of nearby Buena Vista Township earlier pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of larceny from a vacant building. The Saginaw News reports that a judge sentenced him this week to 38 days in jail, with credit for time already spent behind bars.
The 43-year-old could have faced up to a year in jail. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a felony charge of larceny from a building.
Police say officers found Jones on Aug. 17 in a garage with the tub, with aims to sell it at a scrap yard for $20. He was bleeding, and there was blood on the tub.
