ALMA, MI (WNEM) -

An 18-year-old man was stabbed to death overnight.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning on Downe Street in Alma where Devin Hendrix was killed.

Alma Police arrived on the scene and assisted paramedics. The victim, Devin Hendrix, had been stabbed in the chest and was transported to Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said Monday that Michael Allen Wale, 23, had been taken into custody and is now behind bars at the Gratiot County Jail facing open murder charges. Wale was arraigned Monday before Gratiot County District Judge Stewart McDonald.

Gratiot County Prosecutor Keith Kushion says Wale and Hendrix lived "in the same household" and that Hendrix was stabbed "with a steak knife in the upper chest area." Another person witnessed the argument.
