GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man was run down by his "friend with benefits" after an argument Saturday, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.

Police said they initially responded to a 911 call from Dequila Carroll, 22, who said she had accidentally hit the gas and ran over her boyfriend's leg.

When police arrived, Carroll said she was driving around leisurely when her brakes failed and she drove toward the tree where the victim was standing.

Police then talked to the victim who said he was in an argument with Carroll prior to the incident, according to the report.

The victim said that he and Carroll were "friends with benefits" and she wanted to be exclusive with him, but he didn't want that, the report said.

According to the report, the victim said Carroll asked to borrow some money, but he hesitated before giving it to her, which upset Carroll.

After the victim left, he saw Carroll driving toward him on a grassy area and he tried to jump over a tree lying on the ground but wasn't able to and was struck by Carroll's 2001 Mercury Cougar, the victim said.

According to the report, a doctor said the victim had a broken leg and needed surgery.

Carroll was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, police said.

Police said they tested the brakes on Carroll's car and they worked with ease.
