A pedestrian crossing against the light was struck by a car and killed in a Phoenix intersection Tuesday night.
The pedestrian was trying to cross at 33rd Avenue and Thomas Road against a "Don't Walk" signal about 7 p.m. when struck by a Mazda that had the green light, Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said.
The Mazda's driver stayed at the scene and was not injured. Impairment did not appear to be a factor, Thompson said.
The pedestrian died at the scene, and was not identified pending notification of next-of-kin, Thompson said.
