Plans are moving forward for a $59.6 million water treatment plant in Bay County.
A groundbreaking is planned Thursday for the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant.
Construction is at the site of the existing Bay City Municipal Water Treatment Plant. The project is expected to employ hundreds of construction workers.
The target date for the facility's operation is June 30, 2015. The new plant will serve 14 partner government entities and five other water districts.
