Driver walks away from crash after car ripped in two
One half of the car involved in the crash Friday.
BRIDGEPORT TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -
WNEM.com has learned that authorities were on the scene of a two-car crash that occurred in Bridgeport Township around 10 a.m. Friday.
A caller told TV5 there were "lots of police" at the scene on Gretchen Street and Dixie Highway.
Authorities said the two cars collided, leaving one basically cut in two. One man was able to walk away from the crash after his car was torn in half.
The cause of the crash is not immediately clear, and the driver of the other car, a red Pontiac Grand Prix, was taken to an area hospital. A person identifying themselves as the man's niece said via Facebook that the car he was driving was a Ford Mustang.
When asked by a TV5 photographer if he felt lucky, the driver unequivocally stated, "yeah."
A family friend of the man who walked away reached out to WNEM.com via email and stated that a short time after the accident, that man did check himself into a hospital after developing stomach pains.
WNEM.com will update this story with more details as they come into our newsroom.
