CLARE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Clare County Sheriff's department said two people have been arrested and arraigned in connection to the robberies of two Chemical Banks in Harrison on Friday.

Clare County 911 said an armed robbery occurred at the Chemical Bank in Harrison around 1:45 p.m. Authorities said a suspect walked into the bank, displayed a black and gray handgun and threatened to go to the local schools and shoot children if he wasn't given money.

Authorities said the suspect then fled out the door of the bank with an unknown amount of cash and drove south in a red-colored Chevrolet sport utility vehicle. Just over two hour later, 911 was informed of a second bank robbery at the Chemical Bank north of Harrison in Hayes Township. The suspect description given was the same as the one given in the first robbery at the Chemical Bank in Harrison.

Sheriff's deputies located the suspect vehicle and it attempted to flee from police northbound on Clare Avenue from Hampton Road. A 57-year-old Harrison man and a 56-year-old Cadillac woman driving the vehicle were arrested for the robberies.

An undetermined amount of cash was recovered.

Authorities said Monday that Clinton Cole was charged with armed robbery, felon in possession of a weapon and other firearm offenses, as well as being a habitual offender, fourth offense. His bond was set at $1 million. He remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.

Police said Ruth Loomis was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, aiding and abetting an armed robbery and and habitual offender-third offense. Her bond was set at $500,000 and she also remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.
