LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Facebook messages from another man led to a violent attack on a woman, according to the victim and Louisville Metro Police.

The victim told officers that after Mark Brown, 32, of Louisville finished off a 12-pack of beer early Saturday morning at a home on Carnes Drive, he used her phone to access her Facebook account and saw messages from a male acquaintance of hers. The victim said Brown became hostile, pushing her onto the couch and holding her down by the throat. Brown's arrest report states he hit the woman when she fought back, and then grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the floor and slammed her head into the floor five or six times. The victim told police that Brown then put her in a headlock and struck the top of her head, saying he would "watch her take her last breath." The victim said Brown grabbed a knife and threatened to harm both her and himself.

Police said Brown and the victim have an emergency protective order in place.

Brown is charged with wanton endangerment, assault, and violation of an emergency protection order.
