Two arrested in Statesboro for distribution of crack cocaine

The Statesboro Police Dept.'s Crime Suppression Unit served a search warrant at 210 Maple St. on Friday, Oct. 4 in connection to a burglary and a narcotics investigation.

The investigation revealed the residence contained stolen properly from previous burglaries and also served as a local distribution center for a significant amount of crack cocaine.

Officers arrested Demetrius Lavelle Lee, 25, and Verna Lanier, 59, at the scene after officers recovered over $3,600 worth of crack cocaine and $840 worth of marijuana. Officers also recovered an undisclosed amount of money and two televisions that were reported stolen in two different burglaries earlier this year.

Lee is charged with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug related objects, and theft by receiving stolen property.

Lanier is charged with theft by receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.
