A Vanderbilt student was robbed at gunpoint around 1 a.m. Wednesday near campus.
Police say the student was walking on 19th Avenue South near Edgehill Avenue when two men came up to him, pointed their handguns at him and told him to get on the ground. The student was pushed to the ground, and the men took his backpack and laptop.
After the robbery, the suspects ran away from campus heading north on 19th Avenue South toward Grand Avenue.
The student was injured in the robbery and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. The student has since been released.
Officials say the robbers were black males who are about 20 years old, between 5'10" and 5'11" tall and weigh between 160 and 170 pounds. One of the men was wearing a dark-colored Under Armour hoodie and long pants. The second man was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and dark short pants.
