Phoenix police say four men broke into this home and pistol-whipped a woman. She wasn't seriously injured. (Source: CBS 5 News)
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police were looking for four armed men involved in a violent robbery of a house that might have been mistakenly targeted Wednesday morning.
Police said four men broke into the home, pistol-whipped a woman in her 50s, held a woman in her 20s at knifepoint and then herded the two women and a 15-year-old boy into a room before they ransacked the home.
A police spokesman said the suspects demanded drugs and cash, and ended up taking some cash and electronics from the home near 21st Place and McDowell Road.
The spokesman said the house might have been wrongly targeted because no evidence of drugs was ever found.
One of the suspects fired at the family pit bull attacked, but the dog was unharmed and the gun might have been only a cap gun, a Phoenix police spokesman said.
The four suspects were between the ages of 18 and 25 years old, the spokesman said. No further description was available and because it happened at 4 a.m., few witnesses are believed have seen the crime, the spokesman said.
The pistol-whipped woman's injuries were not considered life-threatening, and neither the other woman nor the teen were harmed, the spokesman said.
Anyone with information about the home invasion or the suspects is asked to call Phoenix police or 911.
