Home owner finds homicide victim while leaving for work

FLINT, MI (WNEM/AP) -

Three people are in custody and one person is dead in connection with a crime spree Wednesday night.

Flint police say it all started just before 7:30 p.m. when the suspects carjacked a resident and then began their string of armed robberies.

Authorities also believe those suspects may be connected with a shooting that left one man dead in the front yard of a house on Sheffield Avenue.

Police say a 45-year-old woman also was shot and wounded just after midnight. That followed a carjacking at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday and the holdup of a 57-year-old man and an attempted robbery.

Authorities said a resident discovered the deceased victim while preparing to leave for work.

Flint Police Chief James Tolbert says it appears the same people committed the carjacking and holdups.

Flint Township Police Chief George Sippert says the vehicle taken in the carjacking may have been involved in an armed robbery about 3:15 a.m. Thursday in his Genesee County community.

Police say they arrested two people spotting, chasing and catching the vehicle.

Authorities said their investigation into the crime spree is ongoing.
