TEANECK, N.J., Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Anita Kaufmann Foundation (AKF) (http://akfus.org/) is continuing its sponsorship of the Annual Epilepsy Awareness Football Game for the second year. The purpose of the game is to promote public awareness about epilepsy and seizure first aid because 1 out of 10 people will have a seizure. The game will be held at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday, October 26th, 2013, where the Minnesota Golden Gophers (http://www.gophersports.com/) will square off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. ESPN will televise the game live starting at 11 am CDT. The Stadium will be turning purple, the international color of epilepsy, as players, coaches and cheerleaders will show their solidarity by wearing purple wristbands, purple ribbons and waving purple pom-poms.
The 2nd Annual Gophers Football Epilepsy Awareness Game promises to be bigger and better than ever this year, with everyone in the stands receiving memorable rally towels that will feature the Gophers and the Cornhuskers and their commitment to spreading epilepsy education and awareness. Other sponsors include Eisai Pharmaceuticals, The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota, Verizon Wireless, and McArthur Towel and Sports.
Executive Director Debra Josephs is inviting other colleges to hold their own Epilepsy Awareness Football Game and AKF will provide all the support they need. "Sports provide the perfect awareness vehicle and Coach and Rebecca Kill are spearheading this effort."
