Several law enforcement divisions are on the hunt for some of the state's "most wanted" sexual predators and it's all taking place in our backyard.
Michigan State Police trooper Rick Jones and members of other law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals are hunting for criminals with outstanding warrants.
One of the men they are looking for is Anthony Beaurem, a man Jones says is Michigan's most wanted sex offender.
Beaurem, who is also wanted for attempted murder, was convicted in Florida of having inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 14, but hasn't registered with authorities in months and it's believed he is hiding out somewhere near Flint. Coincidentally, it's the same neighborhood where police are searching for other wanted criminals and that's what made Monday's sting extra important to police.
During a visit to a home on Flint's north side, police went looking for a man wanted for felonious assault. That man wasn't home, but the man who answers the door wishes he didn't -- he's wanted too, for violations to his probation. Investigators say he's wanted in Ohio for cocaine possession.
Jones says it's not uncommon to stumble upon a different criminal while they search for their main suspect.
Unfortunately, Michigan's "most wanted" sex offender has thus far been able to avoid capture and police are turning to the public to help find him.
Jones says if you see Beaurem, do not approach him as he is considered armed and dangerous. Instead you are asked to call 911 immediately.
