MOUNT PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

Police have identified the man who they say sexually assaulted one CMU student and attacked two others.

Officers say 18-year-old John Daniel Rubio, also a CMU student, entered an unlocked dorm room in Merrill Hall early Sunday morning.

Police believe he committed a sexual assault against a female resident and then assaulted two of her roommates who came to her aid when they overheard a struggle.

The women quickly reported the crime and Rubio was arrested while still in the dormitory.

Rubio was arraigned Tuesday and faces the following charges:

- Home Invasion,  1st Degree (penalty of up to 20 years)

- Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Penetration (penalty of up to 10 years)

- Criminal Sexual Conduct 4th Degree, Force/Coercion (penalty of up to 2 years)

- Two Counts of Assault and Battery (penalty of up to 93 days)

Rubio has been released on bond but a judge ordered him to stay off the CMU campus.
