MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Midland Police have a newly formed traffic services team, and this month their focus is those who text and drive. They have an added tool, a new Chevy Tahoe to help spot those drivers.

"It gives us better a vantage point when are looking at traffic, we are able to see what people are doing with their hands while they are driving." said officer Paul McDonald, Midland Police

Officer McDonald says there are signs of a someone is who texting, while driving.

"A dead giveaway,is the head bobbing down, is a sure sign they are doing something other than watching the road ahead of them." said McDonald

If you're stopped in Midland, and issued a violation, its a $240 fine. Just for the first offense.
