Veterans Day is Monday, but the folks in Franklin got started early in celebrating and showing their appreciation for the community's heroes.
For the past several years, Franklin's Veterans Day parade has become one of the best Middle Tennessee salutes to those who served, and Friday's event was no different, as the cloudless blue sky was overwhelmed by red, white and blue.
The turnout for the Veterans Day parade proves no one here forgets.
"It does, and this year there are more flags. I'm very happy with the turnout and the support for these men and women who do so much for us," said Emily Vooys.
Instead of just one grand marshal, this year Franklin decided to honor 15. All of them were veterans of past wars, including World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Nicholas Koralis showed up early to get a good view. He wanted his grandson to see this.
Born in Athens, Greece, days like this make him a proud American.
"We're trying to make sure we give tribute to the people who served this country and all countries around the world for our liberty," Koralis said.
Nashville's Veterans Day parade is Monday. It starts at 11 a.m. at Broadway and 13th Avenue.
