Weather Forecast for Veterans Day - WNEM TV 5

Weather Forecast for Veterans Day

Posted: Updated:

Monday is Veterans' Day, and weather will have an impact on the various ceremonies and memorials planned across Mid-Michigan. Most of these events will be outside, on the coldest day we've seen so far this season.

In the afternoon, we'll get a burst of snow that will leave about a half-inch of accumulation on grassy areas. You shouldn't need a shovel as the snow that falls on pavement will melt fairly quickly. As a cold front moves from north to south across the state, the precipitation will start as rain in the morning and as temperatures fall we'll get a wintery mix and finally a period of snow showers that will last a little over an hour. The warmest part of the day will be early, with the cold front eventually dropping us all the way down to 21-degrees by early Tuesday.

The entire week will be dry and sunny, but cold. By a week from today we'll be back into the mid-50's for a high temp. Firearm deer season opens Friday. That morning the low will be around 32 with an afternoon high of 45 with partly sunny skies. The season opens at 7:30, a half-hour before sunrise.

Thanks to our nation's service men and women for their service to our country. Show your support by attending a commeration in your community on Veterans' Day.
