TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson judge dismissed the assault charge against a local high school principal accused of beating up a teenager in September.

Court records show prosecutors moved to dismiss the misdemeanor charge against Sahuaro High School Principal Dr. Chris Bonn, but do not state why.

A police report states Bonn repeatedly punched his step-daughter's boyfriend, 16-year-old Roman Morales, because he believed Morales had a gun in his car.

It happened early on labor day after the step-daughter and the boyfriend were out together for much of the night.

The teenager's family could still seek legal action.
