FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton announced a guilty verdict in the murder case against Ladora Snell.

On Tuesday, a jury convicted Snell, 28, of Flint, of second-degree murder for hitting and then driving over the father of her child with her car on Sept. 29, 2012.

According to testimony and evidence presented at the trial, Leyton said Snell had gone over to the residence of Mack Hill Parrish, IV on Yorkshire in the city of Flint to pick up their child. Leyton said Snell and Parrish got into an argument and Snell got into her car, backed up, directed the vehicle at Parrish and then accelerated.

After striking Parrish, Leyton said Snell paused for a moment and then ran over his body. Snell then went inside the house, grabbed her child, got back into her car and left.

Evidence at trial indicated that Snell called several people on her phone after the incident but never called 911. Parrish was transported to Hurley Medical Center where he died two days later.

"This was not an easy case but, I am pleased with the verdict of second degree murder," said Leyton. "Special Assistant Attorney General Barney Whitesman and Flint Police Sergeant Jason Cate and others did an excellent job in preparing the case and presenting it to the jury," he said.

A sentencing date has been scheduled for Dec. 3.
