SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A local man will stand trial on seven felony charges based on accusations he assaulted his wife and tried to throw her into oncoming traffic.

The Saginaw News reports Jeremy l. Stafford is charged with assault with intent to murder and other felonies.

The incident happened in July in Bridgeport Township when Stafford's wife said he tried to throw her into traffic on I-75.

Reports say the 27-year-old began arguing with his wife and pulled over, where the assault spilled out onto the roadway.

If convicted, Stafford could face 15 years in prison.
