High wind warning in effect for Mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning that will remain in effect until 5am Monday morning.

Severe Thunderstorms are Racing across Mid-Michigan at about 60mph causing downed trees and power outages. Behind the rain we will still look for winds to be an issue into the overnight hours.

Winds will be out of the SW between 30 an 40mph with gusts exceeding 55mph! We can expect to see significant damage to trees as well as downed power lines and power outages.

Weak structures and old Buildings are also at risk as well as lawn furniture and loose debris. Travel can prove difficult for high profile vehicles as well.

Be sure to secure any loose items in your yard, avoid windows in your home and limit travel if at all possible. Stay with WNEM-TV5 for continued coverage.
