Officials ID woman who died in foothills house fire

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A woman died in a house fire this morning in the foothills.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Larae Hambenne, 97, died in the fire at her home in the 4400 block of East Ina Road, near North Swan Road. 

Calls were received after 6:30 a.m., according to the Rural/Metro Fire Department.  Crews arrived on scene to find the home consumed by fire and smoke visible from a considerable distance.

Firefighting crews searched the home and located Hambenne, who was treated by emergency crews, but was declared dead at the scene.

According to Rural/Metro, 80 percent of the home was destroyed by the fire.  The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
