The Holyoke Mall held its eighth annual "Magical Night of Giving" on Sunday evening.
Shoppers could purchase a $5 ticket that earned them special discounts at certain stores.
There was also entertainment at the event, including Christmas-themed karaoke and even a special appearance by Santa Claus.
For the past six weeks, more than 70 nonprofit groups have been selling tickets to the event.
The money raised is then donated back to the nonprofit groups.
"We're collecting canned goods obviously for the soup kitchen," said Christine Burns of Kate's Kitchen in Holyoke. "We're collecting non-perishable food items and we're also selling the $5 tickets to the event. Of course, 100 percent of the $5 from the tickets we sell go directly to benefit the homeless and hungry of Holyoke."
Last year, nearly $50,000 was raised by area nonprofit groups and more than 1,000 pounds of food was donated.
