Posted: Updated:

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, the discovery of a fetus at the Solon Water Reclamation Department is not suspicious.

The Medical Examiner's Office tells 19 Action News the fetus was that of a 15-week-old male (approximately) and it was non-viable.Employees of the plant, located at 6951 Cochran Road, discovered the fetus around 2 p.m. on Nov. 29 and immediately called police. It appeared that the fetus had entered the plant very recently.

Solon Police Officers are now looking for the mother of the fetus. It is important that the mother in this case receive appropriate medical and psychological care and follow-up.

Information on the identity of the mother can be forwarded to the Solon Police Department Detective Bureau at 440-248-1234.

This is a good time to remind everyone of Ohio's Safe Haven laws which permit birth mothers to turn custody of unwanted infants over to healthcare, police or fire authorities without fear of consequences.
