VCU Police: Attempted abduction unfounded

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

VCU Police says, after an extensive investigation, they have determined a report of an attempted abduction near the campus Sunday night to be unfounded.

VCU Police started their investigation after a person claimed she was nearly abducted near the 300 block of N. Hancock Street in Richmond. She claimed the suspect allegedly grabbed her arm to pull her into an SUV, but she was able to pepper spray the suspect and take off.

After further interviews with the victim and analysis of electronic data and review of video footage from multiple cameras in the vicinity, police determined the report to be false.

No word at this time if the person who filed the false report faces any charges.
