Investigative results returned in CMU student's death

MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -
On Sept. 3, the Mt. Pleasant Police Department investigated the death of 22-year-old Kelly Markatos in the 900 block of S. Douglas Street in Mt. Pleasant.
Markatos was found unresponsive in her apartment bedroom by her roommates on a Tuesday morning near the CMU campus. Emergency personnel were called and said they found Markatos unresponsive and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
Detectives conducted an investigation and worked with the family and the Spectrum Health Medical Examiner's office in an attempt to determine the cause of death.
The investigation did not reveal any suspicious circumstances surrounding Markatos passing.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department recently received results from the Medical Examiner's office and their findings indicate that Markatos' cause of death as "probable bulimia."
