Research Triangle Park, North Carolina-Based Company Quadruples Business In 2013; Expands Business Development Operations Into West Coast And Northeast To Meet Growing Customer Demands From Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Research And Academic Sectors
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Triangle Research Labs (TRL) announced today that it is aggressively expanding its business development operation to meet the increasing demands of a record-breaking 2013 that saw the company quadruple its business.
On the heels of its recent expansion into the West Coast with the appointment of noted industry veteran Adam Farmer, TRL Executive Director Matt Sherman has announced that the company will be expanding into the Northeast in the First Quarter of 2013 by adding a Northeastern Business Development Manager in the Boston area.
"As the world's fastest-growing hepatocyte provider," said Triangle Research Labs Executive Director Matt Sherman, "we think this expansion into the biopharmaceutical hub of Boston will help us capitalize on our extraordinary success in 2013, and to continue our mission to make research more effective and cost-efficient by providing the highest-quality hepatocytes, the best customer service, and the lowest prices in the industry today."
The company's recent record-breaking success is largely the result of significant increases in both the size and the technological capabilities of its scientific team, said Triangle Research Labs Director of Operations Rob Kaiser. "Using a new, optimized technique for whole liver hepatocyte isolation, furnishing our lab with top-of-the-line equipment, and tripling the size of our scientific team, TRL has been able to increase yields by 4-5x. We've also adjusted the cryopreservation protocol, which has improved our post-cryopreservation outcomes, including plateability. Our characterization assays inform our customers of the relevant genetic and phenotypic profiles of each of these lots, giving them the advantage of having the information readily available before they conduct experiments in their own lab."
These scientific advances, Sherman said, have been paired with innovative strategic partnerships, robust scientific collaborations and creative promotions to reach more customers than ever before from the pharmaceutical, biotech, research and academic sectors. "Our recent addition of highly-respected industry veteran Adam Farmer as Business Development Manager for the West Coast is a perfect example of how we plan to continue to aggressively grow our business."
Farmer, a leading researcher in the hepatocyte field, is the former Operations Manager at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University, where he established a new core facility promoting the advancement of hepatic whole-organ perfusion for the purpose of liver transplantation and developed new methods of cell isolation and cryopreservation.
