GOODYEAR, AZ (CBS5) -

Police have arrested a former high school wrestling coach in Goodyear on sex charges.

They say 25-year-old Kyle DeBerry engaged in inappropriate electronic correspondence with a student at Desert Edge High School.

Police investigated DeBerry back in October 2012 on similar allegations, but they didn't have enough evidence to make an arrest.  Police began another investigation this August after a student came forward.  This time police got what they needed to put DeBerry behind bars.

"He was really close to a lot of students," said Yvette Quezada, a former student at Desert Edge High School. "A lot of the girls were attracted to him so it's not shocking."

Quezada isn't surprised DeBerry was arrested.  "He was like the thing, especially when he started teaching here," she said. "All the girls were like, 'he's so hot.' "

Goodyear Police arrested the 25-year-old early Wednesday morning on charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and assault.

Police say right now the investigation focuses on inappropriate electronic correspondence with one female student.

"It could be social media, cell phone," said Lisa Kutis with Goodyear Police. "That's not specified but it is electronic correspondence."

DeBerry coached at Desert Edge last school year.  He was employed briefly this year until the allegations were reported.

"I'm  really glad that there's closure on this because I know a lot of the staff has been really concerned about it and we wanted something to happen," said Emily Gorman, a teacher at Desert Edge. "We're just really glad that it's out in the open and it's been investigated officially."

Goodyear Police are not ruling out the possibility that other victims may be involved.  Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 623- 882-7484.
