Guido Gardens kicks off Friday

Posted: Updated:

A Christmas tradition continues this weekend at Metter's world famous Guido Gardens.

The annual nights of lights begins this Friday night and continues through Christmas Day. Two and a half million lights - many of them animated for scenes of the bible and other themes. The lights will be on display every night from 6-9 p.m. through Christmas Day.

Mary Guido, wife of Guido Evangelistic Association President Larry Guido, and her crew replaced each of the 2.5 million bulbs, which takes months.

Stringing the lights throughout the Garden started in November and will be finished just hours before it's set to open.

Check out paths in the garden, waterfalls, streams, gazebos that will be lit with a patriotic themes such as the American flag, the Liberty Bell, and the Statue of Liberty. There will also Biblical scenes of Noah's Ark and the Ten Commandments.

A birthday cake for Jesus will be featured in the gazebo. New this year is a  full-sized sleigh.
