Makeshift stove catches shed, trailers on fire

Posted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5) -

Fire from a makeshift wood-burning stove not approved for use spread through a shed, two trailers and a vehicle in Flagstaff early Wednesday afternoon.

Flames and smoke engulfed the shed as firefighters arrived in the Sunnyside area near Maple and Spruce shortly after noon.

Five fire units and a battalion chief worked to attack the fires with two hose lines while other crews searched the trailers. No one was inside.

Investigators noted the unapproved woodstove was in close contact to combustible items.

Preliminary estimates put the loss at $20,000.
