A California family whose dog went missing during an Arizona camping trip a year and a half ago didn't think they'd ever see him again. But, fortunately, they were wrong.
Last month, Meko was turned in to the Yavapai Humane Society in Prescott. The 4-year-old Brussels Griffon had been wandering Highway 89 with another dog.
A microchip scan revealed Meko belonged to the O'Brien family in San Juan Capistrano. It was good news that was desperately needed after their 7-year-old daughter Mady was diagnosed with a brain tumor this past spring.
"We have three more rounds of chemotherapy left to do and she doesn't look forward to them anyway, but even less so that she's got to leave the dogs at home," Dana O'Brien said.
The O'Brien family got another puppy a few days before Mady was diagnosed, and we're told the two dogs get along famously.
