MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

Residents in and around Flint can get a little help with their heating bills. People need to sign up for a program called Consumers Affordable Resource for Energy.

The program is open to low-income residents only.

If you think you qualify, go to Carriage Town Ministries of Flint from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Representatives from Consumers Energy will be there to help.

Tuesday is DTE Energy's customer assistance day. The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bad Axe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

DTE customers will have the opportunity to apply for energy assistance and meet with representatives from human service agencies.

They'll also receive information about home weatherization services and other tools to lower energy costs.

You don't need to register but you do need valid Michigan state identification and proof of income.
