MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

A coating of ice on area roadways resulted in dozens of accidents and slide-offs.

Crews were busy Friday morning clearing roads and highways of weather-related crashes.

This web producer saw three accidents within a five-mile stretch of U.S. 10 on Friday morning.

As temperatures began to drop in the afternoon, three crashes were reported in Bay County.

The first was recorded around 1 p.m. on Delta Road between Delta Drive and Mackinaw Road. Authorities were forced to close Delta Road at that location due to the crash.

The next Bay County accident was on U.S. 10 near Carter Road. Police and rescue personnel responded to a roll-over crash, which left one westbound lane closed.

A short time later, a semi-truck struck a utility pole in Essexville. Woodside is closed between Third and Parker due to that crash.

Drivers are urged to use caution during Friday evening's commute.
