TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson man is locked up after investigators say he tried taking advantage of a young girl over the Internet. Michael Sanders, 34, was booked into the Pima County Jail on Dec. 23 on charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual contact with her.

Investigators say Sanders tried meeting up with the girl to have sex with her. Turns out, it was an undercover sting and Sanders had been communicating with detectives all along. U.S. Marshal's and Tucson Police Detectives took Sanders into custody on Tuesday at an undisclosed location.

Since launching the "Internet Crimes Against Children Unit" a couple years ago, police have seen more busts like this one.

"[The suspects are] now being held accountable because we have a unit going after them whether it be sharing child pornography or setting up arrangements to meet up with an underage child," Chris Widmer, Tucson Police Sergeant, said. "We have a unit actively and aggressively going after these people."

Tucson News Now knows of at least four cases similar to this one just this year.

Tips to prevent your child from becoming victimized:
