Midtown apartment fire displaces 18 residents

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Fire Department responded to a four-plex apartment located at 2511 N. Fontana. 

Residents reported seeing flames outside the window facing the alley, according to Capt. Barrett Baker. 

TFD was dispatched to the scene and fire was brought under control within six minutes of arriving on the scene. 

Fire damage was limited to the exterior of the building with minimal smoke damage into two units with broken windows. 

In all, 18 residents ranging in ages from 65 to 3-years-old and 7 dogs were displaced. 

Red Cross was contacted and facilitated finding temporary lodging for all the occupants. 

The fire did approx. $10,000 in damage to the structure. The fire is still under investigation.
