SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Folks are urged to use caution while driving as freezing drizzle that fell Sunday afternoon has caused tricky travel in areas of Mid-Michigan.

Be careful when you head out the door as cooler temperatures are creating a few slick spots on the roads.

We've received word of an accident that happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning at 12521 East Birch Run Road in Birch Run. It is being described as a rollover crash. It is unclear how many vehicles are involved but police are asking drivers to avoid the area, if possible.

There was also an accident about 2 1/2 miles east down Birch Run Road. Not much is known about that accident.

Sunday, a semi-truck that went off I-675 near the I-75 interchange. The road was closed down until crews cleared the scene.

No word if anyone was hurt. Another rollover crash happened Sunday night in Saginaw County. Emergency crews were called to the corner of Janes and Butler streets in Buena Vista Township. Still no word if anyone was hurt in that crash.

Officials say the main roads have been treated but drivers are asked to be careful on back roads that may not have been salted yet.

TV5 Facebook friend Stephanie Zelba provided pictures of that semi-truck that had gone off the road on I-675 near the I-75 interchange in Saginaw County Sunday afternoon. Facebook friend Jennifer Pollock also provided pictures of an accident on the Liberty Bridge in Bay City. Both described conditions Sunday as being like "a sheet of ice."

TV5 Weather Specialist Eric Jylha says an Arctic cold front has headed our way and temps dipped to an overnight low of 5 with sub-zero wind chills. As the temperatures fall with some freezing drizzle, expect some of the moisture on paved surfaces to freeze and become slippery.

All week will be quite cold with temperatures in the teens for daytime high and single digits at night.

  • Monday:  Partly cloudy. High of 15.
  • Tuesday:  Mostly cloudy.  High of 13.
  • Wednesday:  Mostly cloudy.  High of 16.
  • Thursday:    Chance of snow.  High of 15.
  • Friday:  Mostly Cloudy.  High of 16.
  • Saturday: Chance of snow. High of 25.
In the U.P., the National Weather Service is saying that temperatures will drop to "dangerously low" levels with negative wind chills. Overnight temperatures in some areas of the Upper Peninsula are expected to be 10 to 20 degrees below zero.
