Two people suffered life-threatening injuries when two cars careened off the road late Sunday night, according to Chesterfield Police.

The two vehicles were traveling along the 2100 block of South Providence Road near Courthouse Road around 11 p.m. when one attempted to pass the other. The cars ran off the road, which caused one to flip, according to Chesterfield Police.

Kristopher Leon Holliday, 18, of North Chesterfield County was transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old woman and another man who suffered life-threatening injuries have not been identified.

Crash teams worked into early Monday morning in order to determine a cause of the accident. A portion of South Providence Road was closed as a result.
