BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Some residents in Bay City awoke to the new year to find their vehicles had been vandalized.

A TV5 viewer contacted us to state that sometime overnight] had shot out a window on his truck and that his next door neighbor had two vehicles damaged.

When the viewer contacted Bay City Police, the responding officer told him the department had several cases of vandalism overnight.

Bay County 911 confirms that there was vandalism done to vehicles, but didn't specify any details.

"[The] Passenger side window on my truck was shot out," said Rick in an email, a vandalism victim who only wanted to be identified by his first name. "My neighbor directly to the west of me has a white van sitting on the street with both drivers side and passenger side window shot out."

Rick said the damage was done to his and his neighbor's vehicles in the 400 block of N. Hampton Street near the corner of Ninth Street, on the city's east side.

"Whoever did it needs to know it won't be tolerated and they need to be caught," said Rick.

Authorities said a total of 11 vehicles were targeted, possibly with a pellet gun. Besides damage on Hampton Street, owners reported damage to vehicles in the 300 block of N. Lincoln, 1500 block of 11th Street, and McClellan.

UPDATE: Just after 4 p.m., Bay City police informed WNEM TV5 that a juvenile had been arrested in connection to the vandalism spree, and that person was to be lodged at the Bay County Juvenile Home.
